Happy Summer,
The MKJ Team is still celebrating 15 years of bringing state-of-the-art communications systems to the tristate area, and as the summer flies by we are pressing the pause button to say “hello” to our newest product lines and “goodbye” to the project that has forever changed us.

OUR LONGEST PROJECT EVER:
SECOND AVE SUBWAY
|
|
The Second Avenue Subway project is now completely complete.
One of our biggest, and definitely most memorable, projects to date is the Second Ave Subway Line that runs under Second Avenue on the East Side of Manhattan. A project that spanned 9 years and had a contract of over 6.6 million dollars.
MKJ’s scope included designing, furnishing, manufacturing, procuring, delivering, storing, integrating, testing, documenting, warranting, and placing in operation the final system and component figuration of various communications equipment needed to make the subway fully operational and safe for passengers.
The work, essentially complete since 2018 when the new subway went into service, but as they say, “the job isn’t over until the final documentation is signed off on.” The MKJ project manager started this venture as a bachelor and as the final sign-offs are complete is now a married man with two children…and a couple of grey hairs. Yes, it’s been that long.
Now that the MTA has gone through the project with a fine-toothed comb to make sure that the final drawings match the work done, everything was conveyed “as-built” and that all the final field conditions, change orders manuals and shop plans were accounted for, we can finally say we are done – 100% done.

Meet our new Manager of
Technical and Warehouse Personnel / MOTWP
|
|
When I first met Osman Greva, he was working as a technician and problem solver for a mega-chain for over 20 years, his title there was Genius. Although he asked for the interview I had to beg him to join MKJ Communications. He finally agreed to take a break from the big box, for 2-weeks of his vacation, to try out the gig and see if it was worth leaving his “daily lunch at home with his beautiful wife” lifestyle.
I lured him with my vision of expanding our technical group and promised him his very own “Geek Squad.” That, combined with our next-level snack offerings sealed the deal and he immediately found his MKJ-groove.
Now 4 years later, I’m happy to announce that as our new Manager of Technical and Warehouse Personnel, (or lovingly MOTWP), Osman actually does manage an ever-expanding squad of technicians and field staff.
On a daily basis, he ensures that project managers and customers are supported and that deliverables are where they’re supposed to be when they are supposed to be there. Trying to coordinate 12 technicians for more than 15 project managers, spread throughout countless job sites requiring dozens of deliverables, and testing equipment in the metro area is so much more complicated than one might think – mind-boggling actually.
It feels a little different since we made him the official leader of the warehouse crew. He has been implementing inventory controls and organizing processes for materials, equipment, safety protocols, and manpower. His job isn’t all glam and feet up on the desk – although he does know how to rock a hard hat out in the field.
Osman needs to make sure those technicians are where they need to be in the field and that they are properly trained before they get to the job site. This includes continual training to improve their technical skills and keeping up to date with the latest advancements in the industry.
Oz is the consummate mentor always leading by example – does anyone work harder? The thing he loves most about his job is teaching the younger generation how to become great technicians, and he leads by example: hard work. He’s actually the hardest worker, continually expanding his own technical skills and knowledge, and encouraging others to do so.
Osman is an actual problem solver and customer service and satisfaction come so naturally to him. He is calm and truly kind in all situations, is a mentor and friend to his team, and always finds a way to make everyone laugh.
Considering Osman’s main goal is to help the company grow even bigger over the next few years, as he prepares for the great MKJ expansion of his own team, we can’t wait to support him in building the biggest, baddest, Geek-iest, Geek Squad our industry has seen.
